Immediately I thought, the atomic bomb. Hiroshima and Nagasaki should never of happened. Such grief, loss, uncertainty and unimaginable horror.
I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s and the fear of the Cuban missile crisis. We practiced safety, sitting under our desks, seems so absurd now . Today, that risk looks very real again. Each day we seem to move closer and closer to unthinkable inhumanity.
On my swim this morning, the sun rising, the sky blue, buffleheads bobbing, and the Salish Sea’s embrace, I felt nothing could be more beautiful and joyful. How could anyone want to destroy this beauty and harmony? Why can’t humans want more of this? It is a conundrum to me.
