Finding the joy in every day. 5/30/24

There is something so satisfying in the making of grids and repetitive patterns. Safety in numbers, perhaps? At first glance, the leaves seem the same, but as your eye accustoms to the similarities, you start to see the differences. Then you are able to see the difference in tonal variations. It is ever so subtle, but very cool. Then you notice that the backgrounds are different. They are not all equal. If you keep observing, you notice the leaf imprints, leaf placement; so many differences. The piece begins to take on a complexity that you didn’t notice at first glance. Compelling. Interesting. Fascinating. That is art. Now let’s go out and look at trees…in the wind…in the sun and shade…on a stellar blue sky day. Perfection. Joy.

I agree; grids bring safety in number with a satisfying pattern.
