Everyday a stone in my pocket.

Finding the joy in every day. 4/22/24

Whale dreaming. 12×12. Acrylic on board. Katherine McLean

The advantage to reorganizing an art room is that you get to review previous work from a a different perspective. I am liking this piece; it speaks to me of my fear and the profound mystery of the Salish Sea. I painted this piece before I started my cold water adventures in 2023. At this time I was just learning about a process of painting, sanding paint back, scraping into paint and using minimal collage elements. It is a process; and I learned, like everything, it takes time to get the balance and just the right amount of magical mistakes. It is that fine balance where the joy of discovery takes place. I think I might have found it in this piece.

You made many fine discoveries yesterday in your clean out searching for an old passport.
