Finding the joy in every day.
3/25/24
Today I will tidy and plan our little garden on the balcony. With the two Japanese Maples opening, I feel invited to imagine.
The first year I planted white petunias, white cotton-candy and lobelia. The pots were particularly full and beautiful in the evening as the light played off them. I also had smaller pots of herbs and succulents which included two very large basil plants. Yum!
Last year I planted tomatoes; they did very poorly. Not enough sun and too much wind to be successful.
This year we are thinking more herbs, chocolate hellebores and a purple lungwort; we would have something to admire in all seasons. I have seen small patio blueberry plants that look very promising and the idea of picking blueberries in the morning to munch with coffee sounds ideal.
We have not gone to the plant centre; I find I get so overwhelmed with beauty and smell, that sticking to a list is impossible. I feel I want to collapse into the smells and green-ness of it all; a feast for all the senses. I must be prepared for the full assault of the senses.
