Everyday a stone in my pocket.

Finding the joy in every day.

3/24/24

Brilliant blue sky. 10 degrees Celsius. Wind 3km light. Water temperature 8.5 Celsius. A cold water dipper’s dream. The variation between the cold water and the air temperature seal the pleasure.

Ross Bay Beach

Last year, I was at Day 30 of my cold-water dipping 100 day

challenge. I was still a little shy of the water, not the temperature, but

aquatic life I might discover. Dipping in this small cove helped me

overcome the fear. I felt comfortable in this environment. Somewhat

protected and very easy to control within my visual sight. I watched

otters frolick on the rocks and swim in the water at a distance. I was

creating collages that spoke of my unease.

I consider myself a cautious swimmer/dipper in the Salish Sea. I know my place is a land dweller. I am not of the sea, although some days I imagine myself a mer-woman in the salty brine, as I laugh and languish in the water with friends. Bliss.

Today, this is where I will find my joy, friendship and reset. Where will you find your joy today? Please subscribe, tell a friend, comment.
