Everyday a stone in my pocket

Finding the joy in everyday.

3/12/24

Brilliant blue sky and sun with cumulus cloud this morning . Our patio balcony is calling to me. Daffodils and hellebores line the storefronts like little spring soldiers. I am smitten.Last summer, I planted tomatoes but we are sun-shy in the summer and the tomatoes did not mature. I thought maybe hellebores; we could benefit in the winter months with their beautiful blossoms.

Pablo loves to smell the roses.

I love the deep chocolate brown hellebores, snow drops, daffodils and pansies, and the smell of fresh herbs. I will see how they fair. We are lucky that we get the sun in the winter and the shade in the summer on our side of the condo.

We have a large Japanese maple in front of the patio and it is quite beautiful with its dainty lacy leaves. Of course, at the moment, it is a skeleton of itself; the birds playground in the winter. I have a smaller Japanese maple in a beautiful Japanese pot, that I gave to my Mom twenty years ago. Now a little bit of her ashes mixed with a little bit of Dad rest in her soil. I like thinking a little bit of them travels on with me.
