Finding the joy in everyday.
3/11/24
My ocean dip this morning was filled with squeals and laughter as we walked into the ocean at low tide. The current had caused the sand to pull back creating a sloping path into the water…except where it dropped off and left you totally submerged. Squeals and lots of deep breathing and our “Gosh it’s damn cold!” And then some very fast swimming to offset the cold. We probably only stayed in 4 minutes today. Getting out was particularly funny, as the pull of the tide did not want us to leave just yet. The wind gusts were coming from the north and the sun was hiding behind the clouds. A quick dress and for the first time, tea in the car with the heater blasting full. Hands frozen, my partner poured my tea while shaking her head. “I can’t believe you two went in with that wind and the cold!!!” More squeals and laughter, as we sipped the hot liquid.
Some days it is more about the challenge of the elements—-gusty winds—-than the icy waters.
Where did you find the joy today? Please leave a comment.

Thanks for opening my thermos for me and warming up the car. It was definitely a cold one today, but thrilling at the same time.
