Finding the joy in everyday.
3/10/24
Today I met three women dippers down at Ross Bay. Who would have guessed this kind of activity could bring people together? The water seems to draw us like magnets.
Where I dip, the waves were 5 feet high; I was not keen to invite the Fates. I noticed a woman watching the wave action. I could tell, she like me, was disappointed. Another day of turbulence; it’s not safe to dip. Logs are being tossed like toothpicks and a strong current in the bay requires a level head.
I invite my new friend down to the cove where there will likely be less waves, as it is sheltered by a steep hill. We arrive to meet the two dippers I had planned to meet. The cove is calm, no wind, strong sun- 10 degrees Celsius. Warm! Water temp 8 degrees Celsius. Perfection. We all prepare to wade in. Booties, gloves, hat and float. We are all happy with the water and company. Perfect first dip together! We sort out contacts and plan our next dip. A beautiful first meet up. I have found joy in three new dipper friends. Where will you find joy? Please leave a comment.

I like this one especially Katherine. Making friends and that actual temperatures! What time of day do you venture out?

I usually go in the morning around 11:00 in the winter but sometimes I follow the tides. I like swimming in high tide because you get less sand and you don’t have to go out far. Although I love the otters and seals I am not so sure they would find me intrusive…so I try to stay close to shore. And I know that it is wise to stay your distance from sea lions.
